Peach Harvest Has Started In Aydin, Turkey
- May 29, 2018 -

The project to grow peaches in Kusadasi, Aydin, a city in southwest Turkey, is well under way and the first harvest of these peaches started recently. As a part of the project, peaches were grown in an area of 12 million square feet.

The project is carried out by the Aydin Agriculture, Food and Livestock City Directorate to create additional sources of income for growers in the region. The goal of the project is to grow peaches of good quality for the local and export markets.

The Directorate is applying various methods to ensure the good quality of products and prevent diseases such as anarsia lineatella and cydia molesta. The prevention methods include tissue culture methods, biological and biotechnical methods and, as a last resort, chemical interventions, such as pesticides.
